The Firearms Committee of Monadnock Rod & Gun Club
The Firearms Committee maintains a 200 yard hi-power firearms
range, suitable for target practice, sighting-in, and shooting events along with a parallel 50 yard pistol and small rifle range. Both ranges can be accessed under an 80 foot long by 10 foot wide covered shooting shed.
The range is open Monday through Saturday from 9AM till dusk, and Sunday from 12PM noon till dusk three-hundred sixty-five days per year.
More shooting activities are planned for this year.
Starting in Spring, our weekly Wednesday evening .22 shoots begin and run
through the end of the Summer. These are open to the public, with youth and adult divisions
competing for overall & Club championships. The entry fee is $5 per week.
Prizes are awarded at the season ending "Firearms Feed: Bullets & Barbecue". Entry
fees fund the prizes, BBQ, and range improvements. We plan to add events
for pistol, rifle, and shotgun, too.
We also plan more instructional
events in firearms & marksmanship. We hope to offer NRA courses in Firearms
Safety in the Home, Basic Rifle, Basic Pistol, Basic Shotgun and Personal
Protection and an NMLRA course in Basic Muzzleloading. We will administer
the NRA Marksmanship Qualification program with weekly courses of fire that
take shooters from beginning skill levels (Pro-Marksman, Marksman), through
intermediate levels (Sharpshooter, Expert) all the way up to a nationally
recognized skill level - Distinguished Expert.
Boy Scouts of America-sanctioned
Rifle, Shotgun and Muzzleloader Merit Badge instruction is also available,
from instructors certified by the NRA and registered with the Daniel Webster
Council, BSA.
We recently affiliated with the Civilian Marksmanship
Program. This program is just underway at our club, but there will be more
info here soon. General information is available at the CMP website.
The Hunter Safety Education courses required for the NH hunting License
are conducted here by the official Hunter Safety Instructional Team sponsored
by the NH Department of Fish and Game.
A Range Safety Plan has been
